E' Pasqua in MATERA!!!
Here the kids dont get baskets but huge hollow easter eggs with a toy in the center.
 We had chocolate for weeks!
The egg was bigger than her head and the toy was smaller than her hand.
 A view from above...
Biggest whistle (fischio) we could find.

A nice view of Matera behind us. Weather was cold but enjoyable.

 Caves
 Art

This was not meant to hang a child in, but that is just what Alessandro did. Poor Penelope was a little stuck, almost had to get the olive oil to get her out.

Ive thrown a few random photos in here of our travels this year and friends and just random fun. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
Penelope Nicole and Lucia all gussied up for Halloween 2014. Seems so long ago!
Back on September 15th, 2014, the girls went to school for the first time here in Rome...
In February 2015 we spent the day at the house of Luciana's sister, Anna and her husband Nicola for the first birthday party of the son, Giulio, of Maia and Giovanni.
Back for Halloween again here below is Lucia's class all decked out..lucia is a cat, bottom right.

And Penelope's class, Penelope was Princess Elsa from the movie Frozen... Let it Go...

Lucia and Penelope donning soap hats in the bath...

After a successful game of palla-volo the girls take a pic with coach Massimo... Lucia has been playing volleyball and Penelope has played mini-basket ball. Sadly I have not taken any pics of Penelope's playmates.
A rare day out for a Picnic when we had our excursion to Giardino di Ninfa (pictures to follow). We had a puppy follow us around so we fed him too and he and Ale both had a cat nap afterward.
Yesterday, on May 26th, Lucia finally lost a tooth that we nicknamed "snaggle" since she refuses to wiggle or attempt to pull it out. Here you can see the new one growing in. Not the prettiest picture but, well, you know, childhood isnt all pretty and cute.
And the first night on Lucia's "campo-scuola" on the beach in Lido di Jesolo, for four days, three nights to Venezia, Padova, Burano, Murano and Vicenza.

We celebrated Lucias 9th birthday in Bari, Italia this year. Can you believe she is 9!!???  Here are some photos of our trip during Pasqua there with relatives on my fathers side, Gianni e Laura Cersossimo.

 The italian flag in food...

I'll have my cake and eat it too!
Un grande abbraccio per Laura (a rare and thankful occurrence  from Penelope)

A seaside walk to touch the Adriatic Sea...

The marching band of Bari (or something like that!)
 Standing sideways...
These pics are from our first day in Bari where we met Laura and Gianni at "their" seafood restaurant. We didnt need to eat for the next 2 days afterward.

How could we have skipped Christmas??? Ive always wanted to be in Rome during Christmas and that dream came true. Kids got a load of stuff, maybe not everything they asked for but they were happy with the books, pens with plumes they have to dip in ink, clothing, scarves, hats, to mention a few.
I made this hat and scarf!
Penelope showing off her fancy pen, the preferred gift.

Before I move forward into March when we went to Matera and Bari, I thought I would backtrack a bit to the beginning of the school year here in Rome. We are almost at the end and I plan on posting the after picture as well. I dont think they look much different than in these photos, but they surely have each grown a few inches and Lucia's hair is a bit longer now, and their skin is paler from the lack of sun over the winter...

I toured around with Jane and Steve to the sights I did not see with Charlotte and Erika. Here we went up to the top of the National Monument or locally known as "the Wedding Cake" building. We took the elevator all the way up and thankfully had a beautiful day to see the views surrounding us. Below are just a few shots like this one of the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill and the Colisseum and the domed structure in the last of the first 5 pictures, the Pantheon.

Not to mention a short trek around the corner to see the remains of The sculpture of Constatino. Here the haed and below the foot and hand.
